Turtle shell flake or Koeral in the language of the Maluyigal people of Zenadh Kes (Torres Strait) refers to the carpace of the Wa’ar (Greenback Turtle) and Wanuwa (Hawksbill Turtle). The flakes were used by Torres Strait Islanders for countless generations to create masks for traditional cultural rituals.
