Description

There are a number of different methods used to hunt dugongs that depend on the tides experienced around the feeding grounds where they are found. This knowledge has been handed down through generations.

Hunting platforms made from mangrove trees were used before canoes were introduced. Dugong hunting at that time was highly skilled because of the strength of the mammal which is known to be ten times stronger than a human male.
