Description
Knowledge of ‘story places’ – places of spiritual or cultural significance – is passed from generation to generation in Indigenous culture. Expressed through oral traditions, dance, ceremony and art, these unique stories of the people of Cape York form the heart of this exhibition. ‘Story Place’ brought together more than 300 historical and contemporary works of art – sculpture, painting, works on paper, ceramic, fibre and ceremonial objects – by more than 80 artists.
This exhibition was the realisation of more than two years research and collaboration between the Queensland Art Gallery and the Indigenous people of Cape York.
