This iconic poster was designed in 1982 soon after the launch of the ABC’s Triple J.
Because it was designed as an ephemeral advertising billboard very few exist. One copy is held in the collection of the National Gallery of Australia and to the best of our knowledge the only other copy in existence is the one being offered on this website.
The work was produced as an ‘old school’ 24 sheet poster. It was screenprinted on 24 sheets of paper which were glued to the billboard one sheet at a time. The 24 sheets when assembled make up the the poster of approximately 3m x 6m.
In 1982 it won the coveted Gold AWARD (Australian Writers & Art Directors Association). The win was a significant achievement as it was only the second time a Gold Award had been handed out since the inception of the competition.
This copy of the poster is in its original condition never having been displayed or unpackaged.
