Description

Beerbee has painted a story associated with the country around Newry cattle station on the Northern Territory side of the border with Western Australia.

Adjacent to Duncan Highway and behind Mt. Globe is Harvey’s Crossing where Major, the Aboriginal bushranger was killed in a shootout with police. This was in retaliation for the killing of two white pastoralists who had killed members of his family for cattle stealing.

Thirsty Creek is depicted in the white clay mix and Mt. Globe is in red ochre.
