Description
Kulap seed pods rattles or shakers are made from the Matchbox Bean tree that grows in the Western Torres Strait Islands The dry seeds are cut in half, then strung on to vines to make a traditional musical instrument that is held by the dancers in traditional Island ceremonies. The shakers complement the drums, singing and chanting during Torres Strait Islander dances and ceremonies.
