Description

The Bu (Charonia Tritonis) is used in the Pacific and Torres Strait Islands for calling villagers together, initiating cereminy, and warning of raidng parties, and sometimes as an introduction to dance performances. Blown indentically to a trumpet, it has a booming sound that carries over long distances.
